The Guts and Glory Challenge is set to take place from the 10th to the 13th of September 2010. The trek will take place at Yankaninna Station which is the property of the Operation Flinders Foundation.

Yankaninna Station is located approximately 60kms east of Leigh Creek in the northern Flinders Ranges. The Exercise area is some 585kms from Adelaide. Operation Flinders will be providing transport for Guts & Glory participants to and from the exercise area. The terrain on Yankaninna is rugged hilly country with some large mountains. The country is saltbush, native pine and mallee with large gum trees along creek beds. Good recent rains has seen vast amounts of water in the large creeks. The Headquarters is located at the Owieandana Outstation on Yankaninna and the Guts & Glory project will be commanded from this point.

Over the four days Guts & Glory participants will walk approximately 50km across stunning country and take in the magnificent views of the Flinders from striking mountain outlooks. They will abseil, camp out in swags, have all meals catered for while on exercise, and will face surprise challenges throughout their journey. This is a great opportunity for each participant to enhance their personal development in a new and challenging environment never experienced before.

On the Sunday evening the Guts & Glory team will enjoy a fully catered dinner out in the field. A post-exercise presentation will also be held, to which all members of the Guts & Glory team will be invited. This function will provide the opportunity to reflect on the exercise, relive stories, share photographs and act as a wrap up for the event. Certificates of achievement will also be presented to all team members.

“I had a great time and would like to thank all of your personnel for making the trip one to remember and a life experience. We were looked after in so many ways, we were spoilt. I will certainly be an advocate for your operation and programs. I will also be first in line to go again…….thanks heaps”.
